Swadha Singh is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of California, Merced. Her work focuses on understanding the ‘big-picture’ question of why organisms have histone variants in their chromatin. What are the origins of variant histones (why/how are new histone variants created?); and What are the functional roles of variant histones (why aren’t variant histones lost from the genome)?
