Bio: 
Manuel Cornejo joined the QSB Ph.D. program at UC Merced on 2015, after obtaining his B.S. in Pharmacobiology Chemistry at the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) campus Tijuana, Mexico, where he was raised. His current research in Professor Rudy Ortiz's lab at UC Merced, in collaboration with Professor Nishiyama lab at Kagawa Medical University, Japan, focuses on the effects of different preventive treatments (caloric restriction, drug intervention, lipectomy) on substrate metabolism in a rat model of metabolic syndrome.
