Graduate Dean's Dissertation Fellowship (GDDF)

PURPOSE
The QSB Program, via the Graduate Division, is accepting applications for two Graduate Dean’s Dissertation Fellowships for student support in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027. Typically, QSB awards one in the Fall and one in the Spring. Click here for more information from Graduate Division. For AY 26-27, QSB is awarding two GDDF awards, and awardees will choose which term to receive their fellowship. 

You must apply for the semester you plan to complete your dissertation: you will not be eligible for further financial support by the Graduate Division, including TAships, after the end of the award period.  Please note that acceptance of this fellowship may impact your ability to utilize student loans. Follow up with the Graduate Division if you have additional questions concerning this issue.

HOW TO APPLY
Fill out the form below and submit the material required on the last question to Box.

This is not required to submit an application for the fellowship.
Examples include TA, GSR, filing fee, etc. If unsure, please confirm with your advisor or QSB Staff.
Effective AY 26-27, QSB is accepting applications for the academic year (not by term), and the awardee decides which semester they want to receive their fellowship. Please indicate your selection below.
If you have any active Letter of Potential Unsatisfactory Progress (LPUP) or an Unsatisfactory Progress Letter, you are not eligible for this fellowship.

You will need to compile all the information below into a single PDF. 

  1. A timeline for completion of your dissertation.
    1. Include a 1-2 sentence of each chapter and their status. 
  2. A one-page or less letter of recommendatino from your faculty advisor that includes:
    1. confirmation you will finish your dissertation by the end fo the semester for which support is requested, 
    2. a statement of how you will be supported if not via this fellowship, and
    3. confirmation you are in good academic standing with QSB.
  3. Curriculum Vitae that includes papers accepted (citations), papers submitted (including journal), and draft papers (including target journal). 

Then, you will need to upload your PDF to Box with the file name as "LastName_First-and-Middle-Initials Dean Dissertation.pdf" to BOX (click here for the BOX link).
