General Guidelines
Registration for Fall 2026 is now open. As full-time graduate students, QSB students must be fully registered for 12 units for the Fall 2026 semester. Failure to do so before August 14th will impact active student status, Fall funding, and health insurance coverage.
- You can use this linked guide from the Registrar to register for courses.
- To review the semester's course schedule, use this link for the Coure List.
Course registration guidance should primarily come from your faculty advisor - rotation students can reach out to the QSB Chair until their final advisor is detemined. If questions remain after consulting with your faculty advisor, reach out QSB Staff for guidance. Do not register for more than 12 units unless there is an extenuating circumstance.

Research Unit Registration (QSB 295)
If you are registering for Research Units (QSB 295/QSB 288), you will need to:
- Fill out the linked Independent Study Request Form to receive the Course Registration Number (CRN).
- Register for QSB 295 like a normal course, once you receive the CRN from the previous step.
First-Year PhD Students
In their first year, QSB students are required to sign up for the QSB Seminar (QSB 291), Responsible Conduct of Research (QSB 294), and a 3-unit course to fulfill one of your requirements – the rest of your 12 units will be Research Units. This is a general guideline and can be adjusted with your faculty advisor.
To register for QSB 295, please see the previous section. If you are a rotation student, you will request QSB 288 for your research units with the QSB Chair as the instructor.
